The bremenports container crane ("Giraffenkran") at the southern end of the Stromkaje in Bremerhaven, which was built in 1976 by the crane manufacturer Peiner and can carry up to 38 tons with its more than 90-meter-high scaffolding, had not been in operation for a long time, resulting in the decision to dismantle the crane alongside the new construction of the Stromkaje.
This is currently being carried out by BVT Chartering and Logistics, a company belonging to the Rönner Group, which is on site with four heavy-duty cranes and two floating cranes.
According to BVT Chartering's project manager Jörn Haumüller, the remaining dismantling – after the successful separation of the crane boom last Thursday – will take about 3 weeks.
