The Kennedybrücke in Bremerhaven, erected in 1960 and 1961, has, in the course of time, been damaged by the salty air in a way that made extensive maintenance work necessary.
Maintenance was undertaken on the folding bridge, the foreland bridge and the stairtower. After a full closure for traffic at the beginning of the process, one-lane use per direction of the bridge is now possible. The steel and concrete construction works, which were started in April 2018, are expected to be concluded by November 2018.
