SET builds oil recovery and research vessel for Lower Saxony's State Agency for Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation

While work continues on the hybrid ferries for the Port of Hamburg at SET in Tangermünde, another project is running in parallel ...

Together with the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation Agency (NLWKN), they are building a state-of-the-art multi-purpose vessel within 14 months. Equipped with an efficient diesel-electric drive system and certified in accordance with the “Blue Angel”, this ship sets new standards in terms of sustainability.

This ship is intended for a wide range of uses:

Research & monitoring: taking water and sediment samples, hydrographic surveys, meteorological and hydrological measurements.

Oil spill response: Designed as an oil recovery vessel, it can collect oil from the water surface and provide technical assistance to damaged ships.

Environmental monitoring: Samples are analyzed on site using special laboratory equipment to enable further investigations on land.

Water surveillance: The ship carries out surveillance and salvage tasks and can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.

We are excited!
