As the construction of the HADAG ferries progresses at SET Schiffbau- u. Entwicklungsgesellschaft in Tangermünde, SET now celebrated the keel-laying of the first ship at the start of assembly, after the first steel cut for it was made at the beginning of February. With the traditional custom of placing a two-euro coin (in this case one with the Elbphilharmonie as the reverse side) under the hull of the new construction, the ship shall experience luck and success in the future.
The first HADAG ferry will already dock in Hamburg in early 2024. SET is building two more of these ferries for the Port of Hamburg, with fabrications starting in July and October for completion before the end of 2024.
In addition to the new advantages of the ferries already mentioned, the boarding areas have also been adapted. The outside deck, which passengers enter first, provides faster distribution as passengers board and disembark, saving on fuel. Bicycles can also be transported on the outside deck.
