The new STS boat (Security, Transport and Towing Boat) of Class 744, which was ordered by the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Schiffe und Marinewaffen (WTD 71) on July 28, 2021, has been completed by SET Schiffbau- u. Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde mbH under subcontract to Tamsen Maritim from Rostock and is now floating in the Elbe River before it is finally to be transported to Rostock via the Kiel Canal in February.
Commissioning work is underway, which will be followed by the necessary inspections from the relevant authorities. After the vessel has been transferred to Rostock, sea trials will take place there, followed by handover to Tamsen Maritim on March 10.
The keel laying of the first STS vessel "Schleswig" took place on February 15, 2022; that of the second vessel on June 13, 2022.
