Stahlbau Nord inspects Hanseatic cog replica "Ubena von Bremen" after leakage damage
The Hanseatic cog replica "Ubena von Bremen" from Bremerhaven got stuck in the Outer Weser during a guest trip off Wremen on the evening of August 31.
A water inrush was detected, but could be held by the own bilge pump system and a pump provided from outside. 35 guests and one crew member were evacuated without problems by the DGzRS and a boat of the water police. There was no personal damage.
Now the damaged ship lies in the Labrador harbor on the Stahlbau Nord site, where on Wednesday, 20 September due to strong wind first only the mast was pulled. Two days later, in the early morning, the complicated salvage of the complete ship followed. With two floating cranes (the BHV Athlet and the BHV Hercules from BVT Chartering and Logistics) and a truck-mounted crane on land, the replica of the 14th century Hanseatic cog was lifted out of the water. After a detailed survey of the damage to the underside by Stahlbau Nord, a decision will be made as to which shipyard will repair the vessel.
We are joining forces to ensure that the cog can set sail again as soon as possible.
