The Roßlau shipyard manufactures Y-sleepers for railroad tracks in Bremerhaven
The colleagues at the Roßlau shipyard recently manufactured 48 Y-steel sleepers for railroad tracks in Bremerhaven - including 46 standard sleepers and one transition sleeper each for the right and left.
The entire project was implemented in one day shift with a total of 5 employees.
But what exactly are Y sleepers?
These special steel sleepers are installed in the ballast body of tracks to secure the rails on which trains run. Compared to other types of sleepers such as wood or concrete, Y sleepers offer many advantages: they have a high resistance to lateral displacement, are ideal for narrow track curves and require significantly less ballast than concrete sleepers. They are also 100% recyclable - a real plus for the environment!
